Purchased from our local hardware store they are £1.29 for a twin pack. When the tape is cut from the holder remember to put Sellotape over each end they are very sharp. You just have to remember when inserting the sponge bar it has to be inserted upside down so that the springs are facing away from the needles.

Thanks for your blog. I have just bought a used Toyota KS 858 and am finding it really difficult to follow their yarn threading instructions. (I'm a first time machine knitter.) My husband and I have tried but the tension was obviously wrong. The yarn threader all looks OK. It has 3 prongs going up from it - should there be 4? I have the manual.

I was recently given a Toyota KS858 knitting machine and the sponge bar/retainer bar is completely missing from the machine. I'm looking for a replacement for the machine but I'm not sure where to look.

Toyota KS858 flatbed and KR505 ribber . So my colleague gave me two "knitting machines" after clearing out a deceased relative's house. Turns out they were both ribbers. I'm going to sell on the 'fine knitting' ribber, but I have kept the standard gauge KR505 and purchased myself the KS858, which I hope the ribber will.

Check that the ribber connecting arm is seated properly - take it off and replace it making sure it sits on the positioning notches on the main carriage. To start with try a 1×1 rib using alternate needles on each bed with the beds set at Full Pitch. Cast on with a tight tension position the comb and continue as book.
