June 23, 2023. AMERICA, HAWAII. Lanikai Beach Park on Oahu is a half-mile stretch of beautiful sand and palm trees, which looks out over the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. Two islands called "Na Mokulua" are situated less than a mile off-shore create a beautiful paradise atmosphere on what is one of my favorite beaches on Oahu.

Where is Lanikai beach located? Lanikai is the neighborhood south of Kailua beach and tucked into a quiet neighborhood with no parking lot area to access the beach quickly. To get to Lanikai take Kawailo Rd to Aalapapa Drive. Aalapapa and Mokulua make a large one-way loop that encompass Lanikai and you basically have to find parking on the street.

Lanikai Beach or Kaʻōhao Beach is located in Kaʻōhao, a community in the town of Kailua and on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawaii. Although there is a widespread belief that the name Lanikai means "heavenly sea", [1] that is a misconception and a grammatical error, since in the Hawaiian language, the qualifier (lani) comes after the noun (kai).

The word "Lani Kai" literally translates to "Heavenly Ocean" . It is most definitely a fitting name for such a beautiful place. A developer in 1924 renamed it from its original name, Kaʻohao.

Lanikai is a residential neighborhood that sits along the shoreline. The main road is a one-way traffic loop with unpaved sidewalks, bike lanes and narrow side streets. The beach has no amenities—no restrooms, showers or parking.
