I am offering for sale my 1980 International Scout turbo diesel. This is a unrestored vehicle. Over the course of its lifetime, it has had some touch up paint primarily on the driver side rear quarter.( a parking lot injury in the 80's) The interior and the rest of the paint is 100% original as it was in 1980.

A friend of mine recently acquired a 1979 Scout II equipped with a 304cid V8, 4-speed transmission and 4WD. Being an engineer for GM, he is interested in doing an engine swap to a fuel-injected GM engine. Right now, the thought is a Gen1 Small Block would likely be the easiest.

The trans will bolt right up to the 258, yes. Flywheel on the older 258 is different than the 4.0, but the clutch disk and pressure plate from the 4.0 will bolt up to your existing flywheel, though I generally use this as an opportunity to install a fresh disk, plate, pilot bushing, and clutch release bearing anyways.
