Shape date mixture into balls (1 to 2 tablespoons in size) and place on a sheet pan. For a higher yield, reduce the size of the balls. DINGBATS (DATE BALLS) 8 oz. chopped dates. 1 stick butter. 1/2 c. sugar. Combine ingredients in pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until well blended and bubbling. Add one cup chopped pecans and cook 10 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and stir. Add 4 cups Rice Krispies and mix well. Form in small balls and roll in flaked coconut.

1 teaspoon vanilla. 0.5 (14 ounce) package flaked coconut. Melt butter and sugar carefully. Add chopped dates and cook until it boils. Take off heat and allow to cool slightly. Add milk and salt into well beaten eggs and stir into hot date mixture. Boil mixture 2 minutes. Add vanilla and nuts. Let cool, then add Rice Crispies and stir.
