A haystack sandwich is a sandwich made with layers of thin sliced meat, typically ham or turkey, piled high on a bed of shredded lettuce, topped with cheese, onions, tomatoes, and often served with a choice of dressing or sauce. The name comes from the tall, "haystack-like" appearance of the sandwich.

In a medium saucepan, combine the kidney beans, salt, chili powder and pepper. Cook over medium heat until heated through. To assemble the haystacks put a hand full of corn chips on a plate, follow with a spoonful of heated bean mixture, lettuce, tomato, green pepper, onions, olives, carrot, and cheddar cheese. Top with salsa and sour cream.

The haystack was featured on Man vs. Food. Adam Richman called this concoction of steak, mozzarella and crispy hashbrowns the holy trinity for dude food. I ordered a small size and ate every bite. Mr. ST had the burger of the day, with peppers and onion, and our friend had a beef on weck, a local signature sandwich.

On the stove top in a skillet on medium high add beef, onion, salt and pepper. In a separate pot add oil and bring to heat. (You want to cook this like a deep fry.) Add hash browns. Cook until browned. Set aside on a paper towel to drain oil. Add meat and cheese to rolls and put in oven on broil until cheese melts. Add the hash browns and serve.

I ordered a Haystack sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a beer from Brickyard Brewery. The Haystack was amazing! It's seasoned rib-eye steak with mozzarella and toasted hash browns on top. It was so delicious! I bought my boyfriend a burger, a split, and a beer. I ordered fries for myself because I thought the split wouldn't have been enough for.

7/27/2023 A very cool yet casual dining choice. We had their amazing twist on the cheese steak, The Haystack! Yum! After hiking Devil's Hole State Park yesterday, I came here to rehydrate and to eat! I'm so glad I stopped here. Although it was pricy, the view of the water was so nice. The service was good.
