The DD-103 is an attractive compact external unit measuring 2"H x 6"W x 4"D with a very easy to read backlighted LCD (white on blue). The unit comes with connecting cables, U.S.-type power supply, and instruction manual. In my opinion, despite its size, this is one solid and well-built unit.

Common to other Yaesu receivers, the FRG has 3-way power. Plug it in to AC, use and external 12 volt DC supply, or use the internal battery pack, which takes eight D cells. Even though the FRG-7 was in produc tion from 1976 to 1980, it is one of those classic designs that remains popular to this day.

We used to call it the 'Frog'-7. It was a decent entry level communications receiver in it's day. Also one of the first to use the Wadley Loop design. The tuning accuracy was better than some higher priced units. That's because it tuned in 1-Mhz increments or bands across the HF spectrum. The sensitivity was average.

November-20 2023 Very good AM receiver for listening to short waves, good sensitivity. [End post] Bernmeister September-25 2023 I am surprised there are no additional reviews. The FRG-7 is a user friendly radio once you get used to it. My only gripe was the excessive BFO drift.
