It aims to manage the records of the City efficiently; identify and preserve records of historical, social and cultural importance; and make them available for the information, education and enjoyment of the public.

The Mitchell Library houses the Glasgow City Archives, Special Collections, Leisure and Lifestyle and General Services. While we were a reference library until 2005, we now lend many of our books and new titles are added to our catalogue regularly. There is a community library and a café where you can meet friends for a chat.

If you do not have access to email, please call Glasgow City Archives during opening hours on 0141 287 2910. Please book at least one week and a maximum of four weeks in advance. Archives appointments will be for a maximum of three hours per session with customers limited to one appointment per day, and a maximum of one visit per week.
