STANDARD FLYING TWELVE (1936) Saloon. Flying models all came with integral boots and fastback styling, but under the skin it was the same mixture as before. Sidevalves, three bearings, pump cooling, Bendix brakes and all round beam axles were the norm, while the frame had a long 108ins wheelbase.

The Standard Motor Company Limited was a motor vehicle manufacturer, founded in Coventry, England, in 1903 by Reginald Walter Maudslay. For many years, it manufactured Ferguson TE20 tractors powered by its Vanguard engine. All Standard's tractor assets were sold to Massey Ferguson in 1959.

The first three Flying Standards, unveiled at the 1935 Olympia Show, were the four cylinder, 44 bhp 1.6 litre (1608cc) Twelve (model designation A12S), and a choice of six cylinder models between the 56 bhp 2.1 litre (2143cc) Sixteen (A16S) and the 64 bhp 2.7 litre (2664cc) Twenty (A20S).
