First, the engine must be at TDC on the timing mark. Both cams must have the V8 mark at 12 0'clock. The crank sprocket mark (dot) must be at 6 o'clock.

#1 · Mar 15, 2014 Rebuilt a 4.7 during christmas and ran into intermittent start issues. Threw 3 different cam sensors in and finally narrowed it down to a poor crank sensor. Broke inside the block when I tried taking it out so I pulled the axle, steering rack and oil pan off and pounded it into the block and changed it, fixed the problem.

To confirm- the crak shift mark should be on zero which is Crank Shift Center- THe camshift sproket should align with the headmark. Make sure both marks don't move.
